ISLAMABAD – Saudi Arabia Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki has invited ASP Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi and her family to a royal visit to the Kingdom in recognition of her heroic act to save a woman from a mob in Lahore.
The top Saudi diplomat extended the invitation during a meeting with woman police officer at the Saudi embassy where a special ceremony was arranged in her honour.
He also lauded her bravery and assured her that the Saudi government would cover the expenses for her and her family royal journey to Saudi Arabia.
He praised ASP Syeda Shehrbano for her dedication to duty and her professionalism in handling the charged mob and saving the woman.
Earlier, the daring woman officer called on Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, at General Headquarters, on Thursday.
A statement shared by the Army’s media wing said COAS Asim Munir hailed ASP Shehrbano for her selfless devotion to duty and professionalism in diffusing a volatile situation.
ASP Bano rescued a woman from a charged mob in the famous market located in the provincial capital in February 26, 2024.
The top general acknowledged her role of Pakistani women, saying they have distinguished themselves at home and abroad, by virtue of their talent, tenacity and commitment.
Gen Asim highlighted that the women are an invaluable part of Pakistan’s society and their respect is enshrined in our religion as well as our social ethos. Army Chief also underscored the importance of social harmony and the need for nationwide consensus on curbing intolerance.
He emphasized upon the rule of law and advised against taking the law in one’s hands when legal avenues are available for addressing concerns and grievances. Noting that arbitrary actions on the basis of heresy undermine the outlook of the society, COAS underlined Islam’s eternal message of kindness and benevolence.
Gen Asim appreciated the sacrifices rendered by the law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of Pakistan.
