Muhammad Aamir from Pakistan Army won the Lahore Kasur Lahore Open Road Cycle Race on the occasion of Pakistan Daycovering a distance of 70 Kilometres in 2 Hours 22 minutes and 17Seconds. While Muhammad Bilal second, (Army) Muhammad Arsalan third(Army) Mr. Adeel forth (Punjab) M. Hasnain fifth (Army) and M. Shakilsixth (Punjab).
A record 60 cyclists from Pakistan Army, Pakistan Wapda, PakistanRailways, HEC and all division from Punjab took part in this mega RoadCycle Race.This race was organized by Punjab Cycling Associationcollaboration of the POA Management Committee for the Sport of Cyclingin Pakistan for the promotion and development for the game of Cycling.
The race started from Punjab Football Stadium at 08.00 am Sharp fromPunjab Stadium Opp. Gaddafi Stadium Lahore towards Ferozpur Road KalmaChowk, Model Town, Kanchi, Chungi Amer Sidhu, Gajumata, Khana Kacha,Mustafabad (Laliani) and turn back Kasur ByPass to ward Lahore andTerminated at Kalma Chowk Overhead bridge. Metro Bus Station opp GadafiStadium Lahore.
The Chief Guest for the opening ceremony was Mr. Mozam Khan, FormerInternational Cyclist who will pedal off the race from Punjab Stadium.Honorable Mr. Faisal Ayub Khokhar Worthy Minister for Sports Punjabgraced as Chief Guest for closing and prize distribution ceremony at theoffice of Punjab Olympic Association at National Hockey Stadium Lahoreand awarded the cash award, Trophies and medals to first Six position holders of the Race. Rai Muhammad Asghar Manager Wapda team, Ch.Muhammad Shahbaz Assistant Manager Wapda team also present there withMr. Idris Haider Khawaja Secretary General Punjab Olympic Association.
The Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 and Punjab Police and TrafficPolice also performed their duties excellently for the smooth conductof this mega Race. confirmed the traffic and security arrangements forthe smooth conduct of the Race.
Mr. Muhammad Akram Dar International Cyclist performed his duty as ChiefJudge and Mr. Qaisar Saddique Bhatti as Organizing Secretary of the Racewhile Mr. Shahzad Butt was Director Coordinator of Race.—NNI
