LONDON – Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir on Saturday night landed in the United Kingdom on a crucial visit where he will interact with defence officials, besides attending the UK-Pakistan stabilisation conference.
Inter-Services Public Relations has not shared any update on Gen Asim’s maiden visit to the UK, which deemed significant amid current circumstances. COAS reportedly made the visit on Britain’s Ministry of Defence invitation to discuss security-related strategic issues.
During his five-day visit, the four-star general will exchange views with his counter and defence officials, and attend the Wilton Park conference being held under the theme “Regional Stability in South Asia: the return of geopolitics and other challenges.”
The participants will share their views and policies on the ongoing Ukraine war’s impact on Britain, and its consideration for South Asian nation.
It was learnt that COAS Asim will visit British army headquarters to address senior military commanders, and will attend a security think-tank before concluding his maiden visit.
Earlier this year, General Asim visited Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he called on the senior leadership of both nations to discuss matters of mutual interest, military-to-military cooperation and bilateral relations focusing on security-related subjects.
