Islamabad: Federal Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah Thursday said that he had directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conduct a forensic analysis of former Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi’s latest audio leaks which have gone viral on social media.

In the audio leaks, the former chief minister could be heard allegedly wanting certain cases to be fixed before a sitting apex court judge.

Speaking at a press conference in the federal capital, Rana Sanaullah said that the audio leaks were “very embarrassing” in which a new “minion” of Imran Khan was involved.

“If the former Punjab CM is found guilty after the forensic, then the matter should be presented before the judicial committee,” he added.

He also urged Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial to take notice of the audio leaks as the matter concerned “managing of courts”.

The minister said he had directed the FIA to conduct a forensic analysis of the audio clips and then arrest Parvez Elahi for interrogation after registering a case against him.

He added that the FIA had also been directed to consult with the law ministry on the matter.

Sanaullah further noted that similar conversations were leaked on several occasions in the past, but no action was taken against them.
