Lahore: Senior journalist and anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan, a vocal critic of the incumbent government, was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from Lahore in the early hours of Thursday.
Imran Riaz Khan was stopped and arrested by the FIA Cybercrime Wing at the Lahore Airport while he was traveling to the UAE.
Earlier, the anchorperson had said that he was informed by authorities that his name had been “blacklisted” and that he could not leave the country. The anchorperson said that his luggage was seized and was asked to wait.
He was later shifted to Gulberg from the airport. He will be produced before the FIA court today.
It is not the first time that the journalist has been taken into custody. Last year in July, he was arrested by Punjab police from Attock when he was traveling from Peshawar to Islamabad.
