Derbyshire County Cricket Club secured the ser-vices of former Pakistan pace sensation Mohammad Amir, who has joined the team as an overseas player for the initial phase of the 2024 season.
Derbyshire’s head of cricket, Mickey Arthur, who also holds the position of director of cricket for Pakistan, called Amir an ‘asset’ for his team and acknowledged the valuable experience Amir would bring to county cricket.
“Just very simply, he is still one of the best bowlers in the world. He swings it beautifully; he’s a match-winner. Amir is just what we needed for our setup. He is just a massive asset to us,” Arthur said while speaking on Amir’s YouTube channel.
It is worth noting that Arthur shares an intrigu-ing connection with Amir as he was the full-time head coach of Pakistan during the period when Amir was a pivotal member of their bowling attack from 2016 to 2019.
