Amid positivity ratio of 9.2pc in City Parents clamour for schools closure

Parents have urged the government to announce closure of educational institutions to protect the children from the raging Delta variant of coronavirus as positivity ratio has reached 9.2 percent in the City.

A large number of worried parents expressed their annoyance over “what they called apathy of the government.”

They said that on the one hand, the government imposing new restrictions to contain the fourth way of corona pandemic while on the other, educational institutions have been opened at the risk of children’s live.

On the other hand, 565 new cases of coronavirus have been reported from different parts of the City during the last 24 hours.

People have said that not only educational institutions should be closed immediately but that the students age 18 and above as well as the teachers should also be vaccinated against the disease.

They have argued that by doing so not only the lives of students could be saved but also of teachers.

According to the statistics released by NCOC, after the addition of 53 new deaths, the toll has now surged to 23,918.

On the other hand, the Punjab government notified changes in the lockdown imposed from August 3 amid increase in Covid-19 cases.

According to the amended notification issued by the provincial health department, the lockdown will remain enforced in selected areas of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan and Faisalabad.

Indoor weddings are completely banned in these districts until August 31.
However, outdoor wedding ceremonies are allowed with maximum 300 people in attendance till 10pm.

All religious, cultural and other indoor ceremonies are banned in the districts in question due to the coronavirus surge.

The district administration and police have been asked to ensure the implementation of the Covid-19 related SOPs.
