ISLAMABAD – The federal government on Friday appointed Ambreen Jan as new Secretary of Information and Broadcasting.
The government has issued a notification in this regard, stating: “Ms. Ambreen Jan, a BS-21 officer of Information Group, presently posted as Executive Director General, External Publicity (EP) Wing, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is transferred and posted as Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1971, with immediate effect and until further orders”.
She has replaced outgoing Secretary Information Shahira Shahid, who retired from the post on July 25.
Ambreen Jan
Ambreen Jan, who also remained as managing director of Pakistan Television (PTV) is running for the position. In her glittering career, Ambreen served as DG External Publicity in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MOIB).
Ambreen is a grade-21 officer in the information and broadcasting ministry.
Who Was in the Race?
Sources within the ministry told Pakistan Observer that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had interviews for four successors and candidates under consideration are Sayyed Mubashar Tauqir Shah, Ambreen Jan, Arshad Munir, and Shamoon Hashmi.
