ISLAMABAD – Three universities in capital city have been closed for an indefinite period over security concerns, reports claimed on Monday.

The decision was taken after security agencies carried out a search operation in the suburbs of Islamabad on Sunday night.

Bahria, Air and National Defence Universities have been closed as the administration has issued directives in this regard in order to avoid any untoward situation.

The administration informed the students about closure of the educational institution in a late night message.

Reports said the sudden closure of the universities would affect the examinations process.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Islamabad due to the upcoming elections on Feb 8 and ongoing sit-ins by Baloch protesters.

A number of people from Balochistan have been staging a sit-in in the federal capital for days, demanding the government to recovery the missing persons.
