The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Monday arrested former PML-N MPA Ahsan Raza Khan on the charges of constructing an illegal commercial market and a housing scheme. The Punjab ACE in its continued action against the corrupt elements nabbed Ahsan Raza Khan from District Mardan, who was wanted in two cases of corruption.
The PML-N leader is accused of building a market on the land of government hospital Kanganpur and also constructed a housing society with the connivance of the Chunian’s Municipal Corporation Official. Both the commercial market and the housing scheme are illegal and not approved by the building control department.
Deputy Commissioner Kasur has sent a reference against Ahsan Raza Khan to the Punjab ACE. The ACE officials said they were conducting raids for the arrest of the accused who had shifted to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after a case was registered against him. The accused was nabbed by the anti-corruption team through geo-fencing. Circle Officer Attock Saeed Khan, Circle Officer Kasur Azam Minhas and a special police team chased the accused at Rashakai Interchange Mardan. According to the ACE officials, the accused left his car to flee but was nabbed by the team.
Earlier on November 10, Punjab’s Anti-corruption Establishment (ACE) officials had arrested PML-N leader and former mayor of Sargodha, Aslam Naveed, on charges of ‘abuse of power’ which causes financial loss to the national exchequer.
A case had been registered against seven accused including Sargodha’s ex-mayor Aslam Naveed and officials of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) and provincial revenue department. According to ACE, the action had been taken over the alleged abuse of power by the accused persons which resulted in the financial loss to the national exchequer.
