Access to 11,000 books & research papers possible E-Library established at Orthopeadic department LGH

Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute, Ameer Uddin Medical College Prof. Dr. Sardar Muhammad Al-freed Zafar has inaugurated equipped E-Library in the Orthopedic Department of Lahore General Hospital which will help young doctors to further promote medical education and research. This E-Library will be heaving modern medical education for doctors and related “updates” will be included. Talking on the occasion, Principal PGMI said that the main objective of the establishment of E-Library was to ensure uninterrupted access to information and promotion of book reading trends. He added that young doctors must take advantage of this facility as this E-Library will revolutionize and research in the field of medical education and medicine, as well. Prof. Al-freed Zafar announced that more facilities will be provided in the library to attract medical students while they will not only get benefit but also provide the best possible medical care to as many patients as possible. Prof. M. Haneef, MS Dr. Abdul Razzaq, Dr. Shehzad Ahmad Bosal, Dr. M. Iqbal Mayo, Dr. Sheraz, Dr. Abdul Aziz, Fiza Sultana and others were present on this occasion.
Briefing the Principal PGMI, Prof. Alfreed Zafar on the occasion, Prof. of Orthopedic Dr. Muhammad Hanif said that this E-Library has access to 11,000 books/research papers simultaneously and to contact 700 consultants from all over the world for which online facility has been provided. This is a new milestone that has been crossed by the doctors of PGMI and LGH which will play a significant role in the development of the medical field in the future, Prof. Dr. Hanif added. Moreover, Principal PMGI/LGH said that e-library would prove to be a better means of direct communication with medical experts from developed countries around the world at home. He further said that today the whole world has become a “global village” and medical students of any country can benefit from the research and development in the field online. It is noteworthy that the administration of LGH has taken full advantage of this opportunity to set up an E-Library so that local students can be aware of the latest research and “advancement” taking place in developed countries which indirectly benefits patients. This step has also been welcomed by the young doctors of the Institution and they have expressed keen interest in this E-Library of General Hospital.
Sheikhupura police claimed on Saturday to have arrested seven suspects, two drug dealers and a motorcycle dacoit gang for possessing illegal weapons.
As per police more than 6 kg of hashish, 7 weapons including Kalashnikov rifle, 3 motorcycles and stolen goods worth millions were recovered from the accused. District Police Officer Sheikhupura Ghulam Mubashir Mekan has directed all tehsils of Sheikhupura to take immediate action against criminal and anti-social elements and those possessing illegal weapons with the aim of protecting lives and property of the people by improving the governance .While conducting operation in this regard, the team of Factory Area Police Station arrested the notorious lady smuggler Kiran Feroze during an intelligence based operation and recovered 3 kg of chars from her possession.
The police team of Chowki Noor Shah during a special operation a drug dealer Arshad alias Pappu was arrested and 3200 grams of cannabis was recovered from his possession. Cases have been registered against both the accused under the relevant provisions and further legal action is being taken against them.
According to details, operations against criminal and anti-social elements have been intensified in Ferozwala Circle under the supervision of SDPO Ferozwala, Ghulam Dastgir Khan and during the ongoing operations in this regard, Factory Area Police arrested a motorcycle dacoity gang. Three accused Mohammad Aslam, Mohammad Ahsan and Mulazim Hussain were arrested from whose possession three motorcycles, 17 mobile phones, three tola gold,two pistols and 1.5 lakh cash were recovered. Cases were registered against the accused and further legal action is underway. Similarly, in other operations, Police Station Factory Area, Chowki Noor Shah Police arrested two accused Allah Rakha and Abid Ali for possessing illegal weapons during check posts duty. 223 bore rifles, 9mm pistols and 45 bullets were recovered from their possession. Further legal action is being taken against the accused under FIR No. 121/21 and 122/21 under the relevant provisions. In the ongoing campaign to eradicate illicit weapons, SHO Factory Area Rana Muhammad Iqbal recovered a Kalashnikov rifle from Zarq Mehboob, 30 pistols from Ghulam Sabir whereas 222 bore rifle several bullets from Amir Mehboob were recovered by SHO Ferozwala. Further action is being taken against the accused by registering cases under relevant provisions. DPO Sheikhupura appreciated SDPO Ferozwala, SHO Factory Area Police Station and SHO Sharaqpur Sharif Police Station for their good performance.
