Queen Elizabeth II has reportedly turned down calls for Prince William to take over the throne after her instead of his father Prince Charles.
According to royal expert Victoria Arbiter, many in the United Kingdom are longing to see the Duke of Cambridge become the next King before Prince Charles after the abdication of Her Majesty.
Speaking on Channel 5’s documentary William & Kate: Too Good To Be True, Arbiter said: “It would be shocking to skip Prince Charles, I think that’s more driven by William’s youth.”
Simon Vigar, a correspondent to Channel 5 however, claimed that despite being in-demand, the monarch would never allow that to happen.
“The Queen doesn’t believe in breaking the rules, she does not want Charles to step aside when she passes. William doesn’t want that to happen,” he said.
“He will be William the 5th one day and she will be Queen Catherine, and I honestly think what you see is what you get. They’re not fakes,” he added.
William’s youth, charisma and his modernization of the monarchy make him one of the most popular and admired members of the British royal family.
The CEO of Republic, Graham Smith, recently shut down Meghan Markle’s claims of reportedly providing the UK with a tourism boost following her royal wedding.
According to Graham’s interview with Express.UK, Meghan’s claim possesses no evidence. He also went as far as to state the entire wedding became a ‘net-loss’ for UK taxpayers in the end.
He was quoted saying, “Meghan Markle is falling for the same spin that the royal household put out. There is no evidence at all that the monarchy ever bring money in from tourism.”
“The idea that her wedding brought in £1billion is pure fiction. There just isn’t any evidence to support that whatsoever.”
Before concluding, Graham stated, “It was a net loss for the British taxpayers and to try and justify spending public money on her wedding by making these rather weird claims is just another sign of their entitlement.” —AP
