Re-imposing the lock down in the wake of Corona Virus in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where those tested positive of the deadly virus have reached 8500 figure with more than 400 deaths, the provincial government on Wednesday announced that shops except for medical and essential item shops in the province will be open four days a week and close at 5 PM, a step aimed at containing the COVID-19.
On other hand the Provincial Doctors Association of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has demanded to close the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital after 26 employees of the hospital tested positive for the coronavirus. “Keeping in view the Corona pandemic, shops will remain closed after 5pm and will remain open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays whereas barbershops and saloons will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays under Standard Operating Procedures
(SOPs). Although necessary shops will remain open round the clock”. Adviser to Chief Minister on Information Ajmal Wazir announced while speaking to the media in Peshawar after visiting different markets in the provincial capital adding “The government measures are meant to protect the people from coronavirus”. He said “If the people cooperate then lockdown will be eased otherwise it would be stricter”.
Wazir added that profiteers and hoarders will not be allowed to take advantage of the situation. “Right now we are in a state of war,” said the adviser, adding that coronavirus can only be fought if safety precautions are followed.
