KARACHI – Natasha Danish, the prime accused in Karachi Karsaz accident, has been denied bail in a drug-related case.

The development comes during court proceeding on Monday when the local magistrate turned down post-arrest bail request of Natasha Danish, driver involved in the Karsaz accident, after her medical report revealed she was under the influence of Meth.

Natasha crashed the speeding Toyota Land Cruiser into three motorcycles and another car before overturning on Karsaz Road. Two people including Imran Arif and Amna were killed while three others were injured.

The medical report confirmed that Natasha was under the influence of crystal methamphetamine. A separate case was lodged against her which pertains to drinking punishable by tazir.

In previous development, Natasha was granted bail after the victims’ family pardoned her and withdrew their objections. The defense claimed that the investigating officer had tampered with Danish’s blood and urine samples, but the state prosecutor opposed the bail. After hearing arguments, the court reserved its decision.

The judge remakrd that Natasha’s lawyer failed to provide a satisfactory defense under Section 11 of PEHO, dismissing the claims of sample manipulation as unfounded. The court noted that there was no evidence in the police file to support these allegations. It also highlighted that the objections raised by the suspect’s family had no legal merit and expressed surprise that a “highly educated woman” was driving while under the influence.

The court concluded that granting bail in the drug case would set a negative precedent for society. The ruling was later challenged before Additional District and Sessions Judge Shahid Ali Memon.
