MQM-P’s Senate candidate, Najeeb Haroon, encountered a setback as his nomination papers were rejected, while 20 other candidates received approval for Sindh’s seats in the upper house during the scrutiny process for the Senate election. Najeeb Haroon, formerly associated with PTI before joining MQM-P, faced rejection during the nomination scrutiny.

Among the approved candidates, independent candidate Faisal Vawda’s nomination was accepted, supported by endorsements from MQM MPAs. Additionally, Javed Nayab Laghari, Sindh People’s Youth President, had his papers approved.

The PPP celebrated success as all their candidates’ nominations were accepted. Noteworthy PPP candidates include Sarfaraz Rajjar, Ashraf Jatoi, Masroor Ahsan, Dost Ali Jaiser, Nadeem Bhutto, and Kazim Shah, nominated for general seats. Barrister Zameer Ghumro and Sarmad Ali were nominated as PPP candidates for Technocrat seats. Furthermore, Qurrat ul Ain Mari, Rubina Qaimkhani, and Musarrat Niazi submitted nominations for women’s reserved seats, and Poonjo Mall Bheel for the minority seat.

The PPP has decided to contest all 12 vacant Senate seats from the province. As per the Election Commission of Pakistan’s schedule, the Senate elections for the 48 vacant seats are slated to be held on April 02.
