Petroleum Conference 2024 ends with call to explore further oil and gas reserves in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Petroleum Conference 2024 was held at Ministry of Energy in Islamabad and the country’s top leaders called for collaborative efforts to explore oil and gas reserves in Pakistan.

Interim Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar, Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), and other top officials attended the Petroleum Conference 2024 in Islamabad.

In his address, PM Kakar stressed the need for joint efforts to explore oil and gas reserves within Pakistan as the Asian nation holds abundant natural resources.

Prime Minister reiterated the government’s pledge to boost efforts in exploring and producing oil and gas, focusing on improving infrastructure, logistics, and security. Kakar emphasized the goal of turning the resources rich country into regional energy exporter, stressing the need for collective efforts to fully utilize the country’s vast mineral potential.

He further mentioned making Pakistan self-sufficient in energy production.

Kakar commended Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the Federal Ministry of Energy for fostering an investor-friendly environment by streamlining regulations and procedures regarding oil and gas exploration.

The country manager of Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company Ali Taha Al-Tamimi praised the efforts of Pakistani government in formulating policy recommendations and uniting stakeholders to boost investment in the petroleum sector of Pakistan.

Provincial chief ministers, energy ministers, Secretary Petroleum, government officials, foreign and domestic investors, along with international delegates from the Energy and Petroleum sector also attended the event.

Pakistan has proven oil reserves, and the government is making efforts to enhance its exploration and production activities in the oil and gas sector to reduce dependency on imports and meet its energy needs.
