Pak earns over $206m by exporting travel services

Pakistan earned US $ 206.040 million by providing different travel services in various countries during the first five months of current financial year (2019-20) as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
This shows increase of 22.61 percent as compared to US $168.050 million earned through provision of such services during the corresponding period of fiscal year (2018-19), Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported.
During the period under review, the exports of business travel services witnessed increase of 1.99 percent by going down from US $ 2.510 million last year to US $2.560 million during July-November (2019-20). Likewise, the exports of personal travel services increased by 22.92 percent by growing from $165.540 million last year to $203.480 million during the current year.
Meanwhile, the other travel services exports from the country increased b 28.05 percent by growing from $155.160 million last year to $198.690 million during the current fiscal year.
It is pertinent to mention here that overall service trade deficit of the country during five months of current financial year decreased by 6.59% as compared the corresponding period of last year. During the period from July-November, 2019-20, services exports grew by 2.95%, whereas imports reduced by 1.36%.
Services worth $2.165 billion exported in last five months as compared the exports of $2.103 billion in same period of last year, whereas imports of services into the country was recorded at $3.784 billion as against the imports of $3.836 billion, it added.
