Four people are dead including
the suspect after an active
shooting incident at a
naval base in Pensacola,
Florida, police said.
Authorities responded
to reports of a shooting at
Naval Air Station Pensacola
on Friday morning, officials
said. ATF and FBI also responded
to the scene.
“There was an active
shooter incident at Naval Air
4 dead in Naval Air
Station Pensacola shooting
Station Pensacola in
Pensacola, Florida this morning.
The base remains on
lockdown. The shooter is
confirmed deceased, and
two additional fatalities are
confirmed,” the Navy said in
a statement. “Multiple injured
personnel have been
transported to local hospitals.
We will continue to work
closely with law enforcement
agencies.”
Eight people injured in
the shooting were taken to
Baptist Hospital, a hospital
spokesperson told ABC
News. One of those transferred
to the hospital later
died from injuries.
Two of the injured were
officers with the Escambia
County Sheriff’s Office, according
to Police Chief David
Morgan. One officer was
shot in the leg and is currently
in surgery and the
other officer was shot in the
arm and is undergoing care
at the hospital.—AFP
