Terms India the most dangerous country in the world for minorities
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar on Tuesday termed the series of seventeen attacks on mosques in the Indian state of Tripura as gross violation of religious freedom and said that India has become a dangerous country in the world for minorities.
Denouncing the shameful silence of the United Nations and other international Human Rights organizations, he said that Pakistan will continue to raise its voice against the oppression of Indian Muslims.
Sharing a video of attacks on mosques in a tweet on Tuesday, he said that there has been a surge in attacks by the RSS terrorists on mosques and Muslims in India.
He said that the terrorism against Indian Muslims is state-sponsored? adding that the Muslims are no longer safe in India. The oppression on Indian Muslims is utterly condemnable, he said.
Chaudhry Sarwar said that Muslims as well as other minorities are not safe in India. Minorities are being killed with impunity, their places of worship are attacked and they do not have the freedom to practice their religion.
While calling upon the United Nations and other international organisations, he said that it is high time that these organisations must take notice of the Human Rights violations in India and act immediately to stop them, adding that through diplomatic pressure, the international community must ensure the protection of minorities in India.
The Punjab governor said that the minorities in Pakistan enjoy complete religious freedom.
All minorities including Hindus and Christians are free to practice their religion.
He also assured the Indian Muslim brothers and sisters that Pakistan would raise its voice at all international forums including the United Nations to protect their rights and they would not be left alone.
Chaudhry Sarwar strongly condemned the terrorist incident in Balochistan and said that the entire nation is with Pakistan Army in the war against terrorism.
Terrorism will be rooted out from Pakistan by all means, he added. Meanwhile, an official of Punjab Police was abducted in Tando Muhammad Khan in Sindh, a spokesperson for police said on Tuesday.
An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) was sent on a court order to Tando Muhammad Khan, to recover 9-year old child Umar Farooq, which was allegedly taken by his father forcibly from his mother, police said.
The woman had filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) and alleged that her husband has forcefully abducted her nine-year old son and taken him to Tando Muhammad Khan in Sindh.
“A local chieftain abducted the ASI on the official duty, with the child from the police station in TMK, while the police also supporting the local influential, police spokesperson here said.
The DPO Bahawalpur has contacted the Sindh Police over the matter in view of threat to the life of the kidnapped policeman, police spokesman said.
However, Sindh Police has failed to recover the abducted police official, several hours after the complaint, police spokesperson added.
