With the Pakistan recording highest number of 100 deaths in a single day during the third wave of deadly Corona Virus, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Tuesday imposed a complete ban on all indoor and outdoor gatherings including marriages as well as visitation of offices from March 31 as the Provincial task Force expressed grave concern over alarming increase in COVID-19 in the province.
According to a notification issued by the provincial administration here on Tuesday, wedding ceremonies have been banned in 15 cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The cities include Peshawar, Swabi, Kohat, Noshehra, Charsadda, Mardan, Abbottabad, Malakand, Bajaur, Lower Dir, Upper Dir and other cities.
A meeting of the Provincial Task Force on COVID-19 held here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan reviewed in detail the latest situation of the 3rd wave of Corona pandemic with special focus on the administrative measures to contain the pandemic including the implementation of SOPs and enforcement of smart lockdowns etc.
The forum, while expressing its concern on the increasing number of positive cases of COVID-19 in the province, stressed the need for strictly implementing the SOPs and other precautionary measures, and took a number of important decisions to contain further spread of the pandemic.
Briefing media about the decisions taken by the forum, Special Assistant to CM on Information, Kamran Bangash said that positivity ratio of Corona cases was at very high in 16 districts of the province where schools had already been closed for educational activities adding that schools will be closed in other districts as well where positive ration is 5.0 percent or above.
