The residents of Pindigheb tehsil are facing lot of health related issues as most of the seats of specialist doctors have been lying vacant since long and people have to go to Fatehjang, Talagang or Rawalpindi miles away.
During a recent survey of the area this journalist came to know that THQ Hospital is the only hospital of the tehsil for more than 0.3 million people and presently only three specialist doctors which include medical specialist, gynacologist and Surgeon are working in this hospital while the seats of radiologist, orthopadic surgeon, eye specialist and other specialists have been lying vacant. Becuase of these vacant posts of the specialists people have to go to private clinics and specially in case of any bone injury or fracture they have to travel to Rawalpindi or Talagang as even in private hospitals n orthopedic surgeon os available.
This not only causes lot of financial burden but also inconveniemce because of traveling on dilapedated roads. Mudassir Aziz a resident of Pindigheb told this journalist that this hospital has a good and well renovated building but having no specialist doctors which is a matter of great concern. He said that hospital is also facing shortage of medicines and people have to purchase medicines from private medical stores. Another resident of the area Haji Javed Akhtar Awan said that almost a decade ago, an oil and gas company had provided maxhines to this hospital for Eye Section but now these machines have also been shifted to DHQ Hospital Attock as no eye specialist is available here in Pindigheb.
The residents demanded that the concerned authorities must make efforts to fill these vacant seats to ensure provision of better health facilities to those living in remote areas.
