NAB Lahore has decided to close inquiry into Saaf Pani scam. According to media reports, NAB Lahore has sought approval from chairman NAB for closing the inquiry.
In the recommendations presented to the Chairman NAB plea was taken solid evidence could not be found against those named in the scam during the inquiry.
Sub clause 5of clause 45 of Punjab Procurement Rules -2014 have been violated and contracts were awarded to ECSP and Urban unit along with foreign firms. However PEERA rules 2014 are silent over association of foreign firms with state companies.
It was laid down in NAB inquiry a sum of over Rs 195.9 million was paid to foreign companies.
Saf Pani South Punjab office was hired for 2 years and a sum of over Rs 64.8 million was paid on account of rent.
It was recommended to chairman NAB to refer the matter to Housing and Urban Development and Public health engineering.
