DG ACE, DMGs tussle hurting state affairs Ongoing tug-of-war leaves hundreds of vacancies vacant in ACE

The ongoing tug-of-war between Director General Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), Gohar Nafees and senior DMG officers has left many posts vacant, affecting the administrative affairs of the department.
According to sources, a tug-of-war is going on between DG Anti-Corruption Gohar Nafees and senior DMG officers due to which hundreds of vacancies have been lying vacant in the Anti-Corruption Department.
The sources said that Chief Secretary’s Office and the S & GAD Department do not like DG Anti-Corruption. The Anti-Corruption DG is a police officer but he is occupying the DMG seat. The DG Anti-Corruption has also initiated action against several DMG officers.
The sources said that Gohar Nafees has been posted above the Chief Secretary on the recommendations Special Assistant to PM Shehzad Akbar Mirza. The Anti-Corruption Department is being affected in the conflict between the DG Anti-Corruption and the DMG lobby. There are five hundred and fifty vacancies in the Anti-Corruption Department from the bottom up to the Additional DG.
On the other hand, DG Anti-Corruption has expedited the process on departmental reforms. In the first phase, the services of 72 officers and personnel posted in anti-corruption for years have been returned to their mother departments.
DG Anti-Corruption Muhammad Gohar Nafees said that only those who will address the grievances of the public will remain in the anti-corruption including those belong to the PMS, police and officers from various departments.
In the meanwhile, the ACE has started an inquiry into the irregularities in government owned rented properties worth million of rupees. In the last 20 years, millions of rupees have been lost to the exchequer in the head of rent of government property.
The Anti-corruption has started an inquiry into the irregularities in the rent of Nazul Land in the city from 1998 to 2018. According to anti-corruption officials, officials involved in irregularities caused loss worth Rs. more than 90 million to the national exchequer. The Nazul Branch DC Office Lahore is not cooperating in providing records.
The Nazul Branch DC Office Lahore was issued notices several times by ACE officials but to no avail. According to anti-corruption sources, the rent of 18 hotels has not been deposited in the treasury of Rs1.29 million. Rs17,520,000 was not deposited in the exchequer. According to anti-corruption officials, action will be taken against the staff of Nazul Branch in case of non-provision of records by the Nazul Branch DC Office.
