Atleast five people were killed when a speeding passenger coach and a car collided with a trailer due to dens fog on M-5 Motorway at Tarind Muhammad Panah near Rahim Yar Khan on Saturday. According to Rescue officials, the incident occurred at the M-5 motorway due to fog and speeding of vehicles. Eye-witnesses said, the accident was so severe that the five travellers died on the spot, PTV news reported. Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the hospitals.
At least ten people were got serious injured when five vehicles smashed into each other because of low visibility due to fog on the Indus Highway near Dadu on Saturday morning. After getting information, police and Rescue teams reached the spot and started rescuing the victims. ‘There was very less visibility due to fog. We are investigating the matter and will register a case,’ a rescue official said while talking to medial.
The Deputy Superintendent Police Motorway, Bahawalpur Ayyub Khan Lodhi has urged transporters must switch on fog lights when driving on highways. Talking to journalists, he said that some road accidents were reported as drivers did not switch on fog lights while the region had been experiencing dense fog. He said that whenever drivers felt sleep state, they should take rest at any roadside hotels and restaurants instead continuing driving.
He said that tractor-trolleys loaded with sugarcane used to cause disruption in traffic flow on highways. ‘The negligence and wrong method of sugarcane loading on tractor-trolleys caused disruption in smooth traffic flow,’ he said.
A walk was held by the traffic police in Sialkot on Saturday to create awareness about the traffic laws to prevent accidents and avoid the loss of precious lives. DSP Traffic Police Hafizabad Waseem Akhtar Dar led the walk. He said the number of accidents was increasing due to reckless driving and violation of the traffic laws during fog and smog. He urged citizens especially drivers to ensure implementation of traffic rules and drive carefully in fog and smog. Transport leader Zafar Butt, traffic police officers, transporters and drivers also participated in the walk.
