The police seized 3500 kites, dozens of string rolls and arrested 17 during crackdowns against kite sellers/flyers in different areas of Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
The Rawalpindi City police recovered 17 kites from Waqas, Rata Amral Police recovered 600 kites and six string rolls from accused Ali Shan and Safeer.
Pirwadhai Police arrested Subhan after recovery of 115 kites while Sadiqabad Police arrested Husnain Sarwar, Ajmal, Mehboob ul Husnain, Shoban and Faizan with 38 kites.
Nasirabad Police arrested Khurram Shehzad after recovery of 70 kites and two string rolls, Mehtab Latif with 80 kites and two string rolls and RA Bazaar Police arrested Ameer Hamza besides recovering 260 kites and five string rolls.
Race Course Police arrested Raziq, Adil and Zakir with 1550 kites and four string rolls. Wah Cant Police arrest Sheraz with 410 kites and 56 string rolls while Gujar Khan Police arrested Allah Dita with 346 kites and seven rolls.
Separate cases against the detainees were registered at concerned police stations and investigations were underway.
SSP Operations Waseem Riaz Khan has said that crackdowns against kite sellers/flyers will be accelerated further in the days to come.—APP
