23 truckloads of wheat, flour smuggling bid foiled

The food department during crackdown against the flour smuggling mafia, foiled 23 different bids to smuggle wheat and flour to various parts of KP and seized huge quantity of flour and wheat in official custody.

Talking to newsmen on Wednesday her assistant food controller Aabid Ijaz Khan has informed media that food department during successful operation against the flour smuggling mafia made one the biggest seizure of this basic commodity which included 18 trucks of wheat having 9700 bags of wheat and four truck having 14500 bags of flour.

Responding a question about the details of the seized items, he informed that this seizure calculated to 52, 0000 kilogram of wheat, 29, 0000 kilogram flour including fine flour.

He added that vigilance and monitoring is being carried out not only at the all key entry points to KP beside link and un traditional routes are also being monitored resultantly food department has foiled a bid to smuggle on 700 bags of wheat comprising 50 kilogram each bag of wheat truck load of flour from Pasrur to Haripur district of KP near Ahata area.

He said that truck driver named Muhammad Saeed was booked and sends behind bars after registration of a case against him food act 1977.

Mr Aabid has informed that four different joint check posts comprising officials from food and Police department were established to curb the trend of flour smuggling.
