As many as 139 shopkeepers were held as district government continued crackdowns against profiteers in different localities of Peshawar on Friday.
According to details, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Shafiullah Khan along with officials of district government visited Ramazan Bazaars in Gul Bahar, GT Road, Nothia Bazaar, Hayatabad, Kohat Road, Ring Road, Charsadda Road, Dilazak Road, University Road, Pajagi Road, Bara Road and other areas of Peshawar.
The Deputy Commissioner checked the quality and prices of the edibles being sold in Ramazan Bazaars. The district administration team also inspected the Ramazan Sahulat Counters established in mega malls.
During checking 139 shopkeepers including butchers, bakers and greengrocers were apprehended for violating the government fixed prices and overcharging the customers. DC Peshawar directed the administration of strictly implementing the rates fixed by the government and taking strict action against the profiteers.—INP
