LAHORE – Youm-e-Ashur, the tenth of Islamic month of Muharram, is being observed today (Wednesday) across the country with due solemnity to pay homage to the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions in Karbala.
Mourning processions are being taken out in all cities and towns while special majalis have been arranged to highlight the teachings of the Karbla tragedy.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward incident during the mourning processions.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi have given instructions to IG Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi and Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa regarding security arrangements.
The minister also took an aerial inspection of the entire route of the main procession in Islamabad. He also directed the authorities concerned for ensuring security in all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir and emphasized strict adherence to the special Muharram security plan.
Islamabad
The main 10th Muharram procession will commence from Main Imambargah in G/6-2, follow its designated route, and return to its starting point.
Karachi
The main Muharram procession would start from Nishtar Park and follow its traditional route, ending at Husainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.
During the procession, entry of all types of vehicles on M.A. Jinnah Road would be prohibited; only those vehicles with permits would be allowed to enter M.A. Jinnah Road.
Lahore
In Lahore, main procession will commence from Nisar Haveli, Mochi Gate, and culminate at Karbala Gamay Shah, where Shaam-e-Ghareebaan will be observed.
Peshawar
In Peshawar, the central procession will start at 11 am and conclude at Manazil in the night.
