KARACHI – A 15-member national women’s cricket team will depart for Sri Lanka on Tuesday (today) to participate in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup Cricket Tournament 2024.
The Pakistan women’s team will travel from Karachi to Sri Lanka via Dubai. In Group A of the 9th Women’s Asia Cup, taking place from July 19 to 28 in Dambulla, the Pakistan team will play their first match on July 19 against traditional rivals and defending champions, India.
The national women’s team comprises Nida Dar (captain), Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Fatima Sana, Gul Feroza, Iram Javed, Muneeba Ali, Najia Alvi, Nashra Sandhu, Omaima Sohail, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Ameen, Syeda Aroob Shah, Tasmia Wahab, and Tuba Hassan.
Mohammad Wasim will be the head coach, with former test bowlers Abdul Rehman and Junaid Khan serving as spin bowling coach and assistant coach respectively.
Hina Munawar will be the manager, Hanif Malik the fielding coach, Rabia Sadiq the physio and Waleed Ahmed the analyst.
The tournament will feature 8 teams divided into 2 groups. Group A includes Pakistan, India, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates while Group B consists of Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand and hosts Sri Lanka.
