‘Ehsaas Kifaalat Program’

A large number of women on Monday held protest against the alleged mismanagement in “Ehsaas Kifaalat Program” and undue delay in release of compensation to them.

The emotionally driven women came out of the Ehsaas Kifaalat Center of Govt Degree College and blocked Tank-Peshawar Road for all sorts of transport.

The protesting women raised slogans against the retailers of Ehsaas Kifalat Program and blamed that the compensation amount was being given to the favorites while the poor women, having no reference were forced to wait under open sky in the scorching heat day long and return home in evening without any fruit, the noted.

They blamed that the retailers were charging Rs 500/ bribe to each women for release of the compensation amount.

Meantime, Additional Assistant Commissioner Shauqat Iqbal arrived at the protest scene and held dialogues with the protesting nominated beneficiaries of Ehsaas Kifaalat Program.

The Assistant Commissioner assured them the resolution of all issues including establishing new distribution centers and commencement of separate batches for the beneficiaries of each Union Council.

Add. AC also ordered an inquiry into the allegations of bribe against the retailers. The demonstrating women peacefully dispersed after successful talks with the Assistant Commissioner.

It is worth mentioning here that as many as 25 thousand families of Tank district had been declared eligible for the compensation amount of the Prime Minister’s Ehsaas Kifaalat Program (PM EKP) however to compensate this huge number of beneficiaries only three centers with a total number of fifteen retailers were established which emerged delay in release of compensation and worries among the nominee families.—INP
