LAHORE – Police have arrested two of three suspects for allegedly raping a woman beggar in Gujranwala, a city in Punjab province.
The development was announced by Punjab Police on their official Twitter handle, stating that raids are being conducted to arrest the third suspect.
A case has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s husband. The incident had occurred on December 17.
The medical examination of the rape victim has been carried out while a report is yet to come.

The beggar woman told police in her statement that one of the accused is a Gol Gappa seller. She said that the suspect had called her to receive Zakat when he along with two other raped her.
“I remained silent out of fear. Suspects’ families have also been forcing me for reconciliation,” she said.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident and ordered the immediate arrest of the suspects. He also directed Gujranwala RPO to submit a report on it.
