Will there be school, bank holidays in Islamabad on Jan 23, 24?

ISLAMABAD – Schools and universities in Islamabad were closed on January 22 (Monda), in the wake of a security threat, and now a notification surfaced online and is being shared in WhatsApp groups, claiming two-day holiday in the capital on January 23, and 24.

As the rumours rife online about the deteriorating situation in capital territory, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner cleared air, confirming that there will be no holidays on January 23 and 24.

A social media post shared by DC Islamabad termed notification “Fake,” cautioning people to avoid the sham announcement.

The notification sent frenzy among people as it said schools, universities, private companies, markets, and commercial banks will remain closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Islamabad holiday update

On  Monday, capital administration closed several schools and universities in Islamabad particularly suspending academic activities. Bahria, Air and National Defence Universities issued directives for the closure amid security threat.
