KARACHI – E-commerce platforms are facing hard times sending parcels to the United States US, as Pakistan Post suspended parcel bookingswithout prior notice.
The disruption caused a financial jolt for businesses operating from Pakistan as suspension started today on Monday and is expected to massive losses due to halted parcel bookings.
Amid the worrisome situation, the sudden suspension caused cancellation of orders placed through e-commerce platforms, denting export of Pakistani goods to Washington and affecting national kitty equally.
Pakistan Post Parcel Service to US
Insiders linked suspension with failure to payments to US-based shipping companies while problems related to improper parcel packing also add to woes.
As all eyes are on revival of services, Pakistan Post officials identified several deficiencies that forced to the suspension of parcel bookings to the States, including missing Electronic Advanced Data (EAD), incorrect classification of letter mail, and improper ITMATT messaging for small-sized registered letters sent to the US.
Mandatory fields were filled incorrectly by booking staff that resulted in errors and subsequent mail rejections by the United States Postal Service (USPS).
The halt also dented reputation of Pakistani products in US market and e-commerce sellers are approaching government portals to resolve the issue at the earliest as Pakistan Post has not yet provided a proper timeline for resuming services to the US.
