Lahore High Court Judge Justice Shahid Jamil Khan stepped down from his role on February 2, 2024.
Khan’s resignation comes four years before the end of his service. He was slated to resign in April 2028 but decided to resign, citing personal reasons. He followed two judges from the Supreme Court Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan who also resigned from the apex court.
Shahid Jamil Khan hailed from Lahore, Punjab, he was born on April 30, 1966, and grew up in the provincial capital Lahore.

The Lahore-based Jurist completed his early schooling in the provincial capital. He completed law degree of LL.B. to enter the legal profession. He practiced for some time and was a member of Lahore High Court Bar Association and Tax Bar Association.
In his career, he was earlier elevated as Member Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. As a noted attorney and member Income Tax Appellant Tribunal, Khan played his due role in Bar and society.
Shahid Jamil Khan made it to Lahore High Court on March 22, 2014, as additional judge. He took the oath of his office as Judge of Lahore High Court along with fellow judges who were also appointed with him.
Resignation
LHC Justice Shahid Jamil Khan sent his resignation to President Dr Arif Alvi on February 2, 2024. He was was in line to become chief justice in the future but decided against pursuing the career.
In his resignation, Justice Shahid said he is stepping down after serving as a Judge of Lahore High Court, Lahore for about ten years under Article 206(1) of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973.
He called it honour to hold the office, but for personal circumstances he decided to turn the page and start a new chapter. An ounce of discretion is worth a pound of wit,’ he said in the resignation.
