Weather update for Lahore, Punjab; more monsoon rains predicted

LAHORE – More monsoon rains and gusty winds are predicted in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday with occasional gaps.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong monsoon currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal penetrate upper/central parts of Pakistan. A fresh westerly trough will likely affect most upper/central parts of the country from tonight.

Under these weather conditions, more rains and gusty winds are predicted in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Narowal, Sialkot, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Mianwali, Sargodha and Khushab on Friday and the next two days with occasional gaps. Heavy falls may also occur at few places during the period. Rains and gusty winds are also expected at isolated places in Bhakkar, Layyah, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar and Bahawalpur.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 34-36°C on Saturday and 33-35°C on Sunday.

Meanwhile, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in Lahore and upper/central Punjab during the last 24 hours. Hot and humid weather prevailed elsewhere in the province.

Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 62 per cent.
