Weather update for Islamabad, Pakistan; fog, cold wave persist

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted mainly cold and dry weather for Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan during the next two days.

As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.

Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan on Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday.

Freezing and partly cloudy weather is likely in northern areas of the country.

Partly cloudy with rains and snowfall over the hills is likely at isolated places of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Dense fog/smog is likely to persist in the Potohar region, plains of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh.

Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between -01-01 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 00-02 C on Thursday.

Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between -01-01 C on Wednesday and Thursday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of the country during the last 24 hours.

Extremely cold weather prevailed in northern areas.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 08 C below freezing.

In Islamabad, the minimum temperature reached the freezing point.

Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 51 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 01 C.

Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 42 per cent.

Dense fog/smog forced the closure of Motorways and disrupted traffic on the National Highway.
