ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted mainly cold and dry weather for Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan during the next two days.
As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in the twin cities and most parts of the country on Sunday evening/night, Monday and Tuesday.
Extremely cold weather is expected in northern parts of the country and north Balochistan. Fog/smog will continue to prevail in the plains of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh.
Dense fog/smog is likely to persist in Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Mangla, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Hafizabad, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding during morning and night hours.
Dense fog/smog may force the closure of Motorways (Peshawar-Swabi, Swabi-Islamabad, Islamabad-Kallar Kahar, Kallar Kahar-Pindi Bhattian, Pindi Bhattian-Lahore, Lahore-Abdul Hakim, Sialkot-Lahore, Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad, Faisalabad-Multan and Multan-Sukkur) from night to till early morning.
Less visibility will also affect normal traffic flow on the National Highway.
In Islamabad, the minimum temperature will likely remain between 01-03 degrees Celsius on Monday and 02-04 C on Tuesday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 03-05 C on Monday and 04-06 on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts of Pakistan.
Leh remained the coldest place in the country where the mercury dropped 08 C below freezing.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 03 C.
Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 92 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 05 C.
Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 86 per cent.
