WDD Secretary reviews violence against women

Punjab Women Development Department (WDD) Secretary Sumaira Samad chaired a meeting of the Violence Against Women Steering Committee, here on Tuesday. The agenda of the meeting was to oversee and steer the work that is related to violence against women, including the implementation of relevant laws regarding the prevention, protection and delivery of justice for women and girls against violence.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders, experts and advocates in the field of women’s rights, with a shared commitment to address the pressing issue of violence against women and girls within our communities. Sumaira Samad who is also the chairperson of the committee, expressed her commitment to the cause and said: “Violence against women is an issue that affects the very fabric of our society. We must stand united and work tirelessly to create a world where women and girls can live free from fear and violence.

The Chair constituted a subcommittee for identification of legal, procedural, and financial obstacles and their solutions. This committee will continue to play a pivotal role in advocating for change and pushing for the implementation of policies.
