Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Shibli Faraz Thursday said that the water tanker mafias will not be allowed to take advantage of the issue of water shortage in Islamabad.
“We will not allow water tanker mafias to exploit people in Islamabad”, he said while speaking at a signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at resolving water related issues in Islamabad between Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR), Ministry of Science and Technology and Capital Development Authority.
The water project, as per MoU, will resolve the biggest problem of the residents of Sector I-10 of Islamabad which is water shortage.
Shibli Faraz said that the rains occur in our country frequently but there was no system for the storage of rain water due to which water is wasted.
He said that steps will be taken for the storage of water underground. The clean water will be available to the whole city within two to three years.
Speaking to the media, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar said that the project would provide 200 million gallons of clean water to Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
He said that the biggest problem of Islamabad is water shortage and the demand of the people from NA-54 constituency was also related to the availability of water.
