UET, APCEA agree to promote gems, minerals trade

UET Peshawar and All Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association (APCEA) signed a memorandum of understanding the other day. The MoU is aimed to promote Gems & Minerals trade and export through APCEA and conduct academic expertise and commercialization of specialized services through UET, Peshawar to achieve help towards economic development of Pakistan and pursue their mutual interests in finding solutions through Research and Development.

Secretary Industries Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah said, with this MoU, we government will be able to approach TDAP and set up regulations and policies to ensure certification of precious gemstones for export. Chairman APCEA Mr. Minhajud Din thanked the university and business community for their cooperation and interest in developing research and development with UET Peshawar.

Director Center of Gems and Jewellery UET Peshawar Dr. Khan Muhammad said the center is engaged with the Gemological Institute of Thailand and National Productivity Organization (NPO) to acquire state of the art equipment for establishing an internationally recognized National Level Gemstone Lab that will offer gems cutting and polishing services.

Through this MoU, an online trading studio will also be established that will allow our traders to do online gemstone trading and marketing to the international markets. The VC UET Peshawar Prof DrQaisar Ali also appreciated the efforts and ensured full cooperation with the government and business community.
