ABU DHABI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially informed the Pakistan embassy about its decision regarding a ban on issuance of visas to Pakistanis.
The development comes as several people, including some known personalities, revealed that they were denied visit visas by the Gulf country.
An official document shared by the UAE government with the Pakistan embassy stated that the visa ban was recommended after reviewing the actions of certain Pakistani citizens and considering complaints in a cabinet meeting.
The document stated that Pakistani citizens were allegedly involved in activities deemed inappropriate in the UAE, including protests, criticism of UAE government policies on social media, and the misuse of online platforms.
These actions were seen as damaging to the image of the UAE, and the proportion of complaints related to Pakistani citizens was higher compared to others, the document stated.
Furthermore, allegations of forgery in identity documents, including altered identity cards and passports, were highlighted.
The document also pointed out that Pakistani citizens were more likely to be involved in criminal activities such as theft, fraud, begging, prostitution, and drug-related crimes compared to individuals of other nationalities.
Local authorities informed the Pakistani ambassador of these concerns and emphasized that the decision to impose visa restrictions was made after thorough consideration at the highest levels of the UAE government.
