DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a major relief in validity of passports for citizens aged 21 years and above with effect from July 8, 2024.
The validity of the passport of UAE citizens aged 21 years and above has been extended from the present 5 to 10 years from the date of issuance, or until all its pages are fully used, whichever happens earlier.
The UAE government, in an official statement, said the validity will continue to be five years for those citizens who are under 21 years of age.
The new 10-year Emirati passports will be issued through the same established procedures and delivery channels as the current passports.
Documents needed to apply for a passport
When applying for a passport, you are required to submit:
- original and a copy of the Emirates ID card
- original and a copy of the family book
- a recent photo.
