ISLAMABAD – U.S. Ambassador Donald Bloom said that the U.S. supported Pakistan’s work with the IMF and would continue cooperation with Pakistan.

The ambassador mentioned that Pakistan and the U.S. have a long history of partnership and cooperation. The U.S. values its relationship with Pakistan and believed that Pakistan has significant potential, with a dynamic young population.

He was speaking at a seminar on U.S.-Pakistan relations on Wednesday.

Donald Bloom said that the U.S. would continue its cooperation with Pakistan. There is a rich history of partnership between the U.S. and Pakistan, and the U.S. appreciates Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

Last year, trade between the two countries surpassed $9 billion, and the U.S. private sector recognizes Pakistan’s potential.

The U.S. ambassador also mentioned that the U.S. supports Pakistan’s work with the IMF and is upgrading the Mangla Dam with new turbines.

Besides it, $250 million is being invested in providing clean water, and $85 million is being invested in ending malnutrition.

Donald Bloom further stated that $20 million is being invested in education and academic programs, and the U.S. is also supporting the preservation of the Gandhara civilization.

Furthermore, the U.S. is providing $1 billion to provinces for justice and security programs and is investing in Pakistan’s healthcare system, with plans to continue investing in the future.

The ambassador added that the U.S. and Pakistan are jointly supporting Afghan refugees and people seeking asylum.

Although it is often believed that the focus of U.S.-Pakistan relations is security issues, this is not the case.

Over the years, the U.S. has supported Pakistan in dealing with natural disasters and economic challenges.
