Yet another shootout between the terrorists and the security forces in North Waziristan tribal district on the night between Saturday and Sunday led to the martyrdom of two soldiers and serious injuries to five others. Nine terrorists were also mowed down by the forces in the operation.
This was fourth encounter between security forces and the terrorists within two weeks. A soldier was martyred and three others injured and five terrorists were killed in Intelligence Based Operation in North Waziristan on April 20 while a soldier was martyred and two terrorists killed in Datta Khel area of NW on April 14.
Reports say the security forces in an exchange of fire killed nine terrorists when it launched an operation on a tip-off about presence of terrorists at Dosali Khesora area of North Waziristan Saturday late night. However, in the shootout two soldiers were also martyred while five others sustained injuries.
It added that the soldiers found weapons and explosive material during the clearing operation.
Shaheed soldiers included Lance Naik Abdul Waheed, age 29 of village Raj Kandi, Tehsil and District Muzafarabbad. He is survived by a widow, three sons and daughter. Martyred Sepoy Sakum Dad, age 33, hailed from village Bandi Awan Tajawal, Changla Gali, Abbottabad and survived by a widow, a son and a daughter.
