Two persons were killed in a drive-by shooting in GD Khan while a police constable was martyred and one robber killed in a shootout occurred separately in Phalia area of Mandi Bahauddin district on Wednesday.
According to police sources, acting on a tip-off about the presence of robbers in house, a police team raided a house in Mohallah Darbar Bahawal Sher in Phalia.
As soon as the police arrived there, the suspects, holed up in the house, started indiscriminate firing. As a result, a constable identified as: Imtiaz Ahmed embraced martyrdom on the spot.
The police retaliated with fire and a robber, later identified as Iftikhar, killed in the crossfire. Another constable Zulqarnain also got injured as a result of firing by the robbers.
On information, Mandi Bahauddin DPO Saeed Anwar Kangra reached the spot along with a heavy contingent of police and cordoned off the area.
The police shifted the dead bodies and injured to Phalia Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. The police have launched further investigation.
On the other hand, two persons were killed in drive-by shooting in Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday. The police said that two suspects came in car and opened indiscriminate fire on a shop and sped away from the scene.
The police, however, chased down the suspects identified as Khalid and Qutub and arrested them.
The police said that motive behind the murder could not be immediately ascertained. However, further investigation is underway to reach to the facts, the police.
