In a significant political development, two more newly-elected independent members of the Punjab Assembly have officially joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), strengthening the party’s position in the province.
Ahsan Raza Khan, the successful independent candidate from PP-180 Kasur, and Colonel (retd) Ghazanfar Qureshi from PP-128 Jhang-IV, chose to align themselves with the PML-N on Tuesday. The decision was announced during a meeting with PML-N Senior Vice President and Chief Minister-designate Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in Lahore.

Maryam expressed gratitude for their support and emphasised the crucial role they would play in steering the country towards development. Addressing the gathering, Maryam stated, “Your support will bring the country back from disaster to development. We aim to take Pakistan towards stability by ending the chaos. The PML-N has prepared a comprehensive strategy for the development of Punjab and relief to the people.”
Highlighting the party’s commitment to progress, she added, “PML-N will carry forward the tradition of development, construction, and prosperity of the people with new enthusiasm.” In response, Ahsan Raza Khan and Colonel (retd) Ghazanfar Qureshi congratulated Maryam Nawaz Sharif on her nomination as the Chief Minister of Punjab, expressing confidence in her leadership and the party’s vision for the province.
