A routine medical transfer turned tragic yesterday when a Rescue 1122 ambulance, en route from Tehsil Headquarters Jand to Benazir Hospital Rawalpindi, collided with an oil tanker at Hakla Interchange on the Dera Ismail Khan Motorway. The devastating accident resulted in the loss of five lives and left three others injured.
Among the casualties was Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Imran, a dedicated member of the Rescue team. Imran succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash, while his colleague Waqar Ahmed remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The news of Imran’s untimely death spread quickly through his native village of Jalwal, where a somber funeral procession took place. Regional Emergency Officer Rawalpindi Dr. Faisal Mahmood, along with District Emergency Officer Ali Hussain and numerous Rescue personnel, joined Imran’s grieving family, friends, and villagers in bidding farewell to the fallen hero.
During the emotional ceremony, Rescue officers paid tribute to Imran’s years of service and commitment, describing him as a selfless and brave professional who had served the community with dedication for over three and a half years.
Dr. Faisal Mahmood, representing Secretary of Emergency Services Dr. Rizwan Naseer, laid wreaths upon Imran’s grave, presenting his father with the national flag and Imran’s Rescue uniform as a symbol of honor and gratitude for his sacrifice.
The atmosphere at the funeral was poignant, with tears flowing freely among Rescue personnel and locals alike, mourning the loss of a beloved member of their community.
