Deputy Superintendent Sheikhupura Traffic Police Shoukat Ali Joyia on Tuesday pledged that all-out steps will be taken for a smooth flow of traffic in the city.
“Illegal rickshaw stands and fruit push-carts along busy points of the city would be removed and the violators will be dealt with sternly as they create hurdles in the smooth flow of traffic on city roads.
He was talking to the local newsmen on Tuesday at his office. He said that there would be zero tolerance for corruption and corrupt elements would be shown the door.
To a question, he said that he had constituted teams that would set up pickets on various points in the city and take action against those using vehicles without number plates, using green number plates and blue revolving lights without any permission from the authority concerned.
He further said that district traffic police are issuing licenses upon completion of eligibility criterion and claimed that merit is being followed in letter and spirit.
