Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has continued its support for Pakistan’s healthcare sector by upgrading ultrasound devices at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC), a leading training and research hospital. The new Color Doppler ultrasound machines, used in the hospital’s Radiology Department, aim to strengthen diagnostic services provided at no cost to the public.

The handing-over ceremony was attended by Türkiye’s Consul General in Karachi, Dr. Cemal Sangu, TİKA Karachi Coordinator Halil İbrahim Başaran, and members of the Patients’ Aid Foundation, along with JPMC doctors and faculty. Dr. Sangu commended TİKA’s commitment, noting that JPMC’s transformation over the past few decades is inspiring, with TİKA’s ongoing contributions as a critical part of that journey. Prof. Dr. Tariq Mahmood of JPMC highlighted the social impact of TİKA’s support, particularly benefiting underprivileged families, while TİKA Karachi’s Halil İbrahim Başaran emphasized that the agency’s work would continue, strengthening Pakistan’s healthcare. Since 2010, TİKA has completed numerous health projects in Pakistan, including equipping JPMC with five ultrasound devices in 2019 and establishing a modern gynecology operation theatre in 2021. These resources have facilitated over 351,000 free patient scans and nearly 1,850 free surgeries at JPMC. TİKA’s efforts reflect the enduring bond between Türkiye and Pakistan, as it works to enhance healthcare access and quality through high-impact projects.
