QUETTA – Three policemen were martyred and more than a dozen were injured on Tuesday as a vehicle of the Balochistan Constabulary was targeted in a blast in the Mastung district of Balochistan.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, in a statement, said that the vehicle was carrying policemen from Kalat when it was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a motorcycle.
He confirmed that three personnel of the Balochistan Constabulary were martyred in the attack, adding that 16others were injured. He said two of the victims were in a serious condition.
All injured police officials have been shifted to a hospital while those seriously injured were being taken transported to Quetta.
Rind added that an investigation report on the incident has been sought.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a Balochistan Constabulary vehicle in the Shamsabad area of Mastung.
Expressing deep sorrow over the martyrdom of three Balochistan Constabulary personnel, the prime minister offered prayers for the departed souls and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He also prayed for patience and strength for the families to bear this irreparable loss.
The prime minister directed that the injured be provided with immediate and best possible medical treatment.
“These inhumane terrorists and their evil intentions will be crushed,” the premier said, adding: “Our war against terrorism will continue until it is completely eradicated from the country”.
He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering resolve to eliminate terrorism and bring peace and stability to Pakistan.
